If you are interested in getting more involved in the Highlands Ranch community, there are many opportunities to volunteer at events and facilities in Highlands Ranch. Highlands Ranch volunteer opportunities even include special planned clean up projects that help to keep the community looking good. Children as young as ten are allowed to participate in these volunteer activities. This would be a great way to teach your kids about community involvement.
Throughout the year Highlands Ranch has many planned opportunities for volunteers. This year, an upcoming event is the Holiday Celebration on December 10th. Volunteers here will be running reindeer games and writing letters to Santa. More planned volunteer programs at Highlands Ranch community events will run in 2012. Ongoing programs for Highlands Ranch volunteers are for Park Hosts, Volunteer Sports Coaches, Dog Park Ambassadors and Trash for Treasures. Park Hosts are volunteers within the Highlands Ranch parks and trails system. They are responsible for interacting with park and trail users as well as keep their eyes open for Park Rangers. Volunteer Sports Coaches can be head coaches or assistant coaches for recreational youth sports teams. Highlands Ranch volunteers believe to be a successful coach all you need to do is make the experience of playing sports meaningful for the children and teach them lessons that filter through to other parts of life such as teamwork and sportsmanship. Dog Park Ambassadors are responsible for maintaining the dog park and setting a good example for dog park visitors. Dog Park Ambassadors can work at any of the four dog parks in Highlands Ranch and must be at least 18 years of age. The Trash for Treasures program is a park clean up program. If you are interested in hosting a Trash for Treasures program, contact the Metro District. They will provide you and your volunteer group with a basic training and trash bags. They will also hide a few treasures around the park for your party to find while they are searching for trash and keeping the parks beautiful. Please schedule a Trash for Treasures program two weeks in advance. To become involved in any of these programs call the Highlands Ranch Metro District Recreation Services at 303-791-2710 or email them at [email protected]. Another way to start your volunteering experience is to contact Jenn Garber at the metro district by phone at 720-240-4909 or by email at [email protected].
