The Douglas County Library in Highlands Ranch

The Highlands Ranch Library offers a wide variety of activities. Of course you will also find a large selection of books to choose from.  Stop by to take a look at the great art collection, attend a book reading, or join a specialty club meeting. The event calendar is always filled with information.

Art Exhibitions at the Library in Highlands Ranch

Art exhibition space has been setuo at the Highlands Ranch Library to enhance the library's role as a cultural center in Highlands Ranch. The Highlands Ranch library displays art of high quality.  A committee selects artists and exhibition themes.


Book Clubs

The following is a list of book clubs utilizing the Highlands Ranch Library location. Please call (303)-791-7703 for more information on a book club of your interest.

  • Adult Book Clubs
  • Daytime Book Group Meets the 1st Tuesday of the month from 10-11:30am to discuss everything from popular fiction to classics and nonfiction.
  • Great Books Club Meets the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of each month, 10:00 - 11:30am. The Great Books Foundation promotes reading and conversation about great literature through discussion groups.
  • The Highlands Ranch Reading Group Meets the 2nd Monday of the month at 7pm. Generally reads contemporary fiction with the occasional non-fiction or classic literature. The group selects books that are available in paperback and less than 500 pages.
  • Juvenile Book Clubs
  • Chapter Book Club For grades 1-3. Meets weekly at 4:15 p.m. on Thursdays. The children read aloud from different books and talk about what they've read. Emphasis is on reading aloud and comprehension.
  • Bookaneers For children in grades 3-5. Meets weekly at 4:15 on Thursdays. One book will be read per month with cool weekly activities pertaining to that book.
  • Word Surfers For readers in grades 5-7. Meets weekly at 4:15 on Tuesdays. Each week, readers will participate in fun activities pertaining to the book that has been chosen for that month.
  • Children's Creative Writing Group Meets on Mondays at 4:15 pm. (There are 2 groups: DEAW (Drop Everything and Write) meet the 1st and 3rd Monday of the month, and the Pencil Dullers meet the 2nd and 4th Monday of the month).
