Snow in Highlands Ranch
It has been a while that we had so much snow in December. Highlands Ranch looks like a beautiful Winter Wonderland. But as nice as it looks, there are also some problems or concerns related to when it snows in Highlands Ranch. The following information will help you to get a better understanding of the problems and who to notify in such cases.
If you are a Highlands Ranch homeowner you probably want to know who is responsible for plowing your street. Snow removal on public streets is the responsibility of Douglas County Public Works (303-660-7480). Shoveling sidewalks however is not the responsibility of Douglas County. In most cases homeowners are responsible for removing snow from sidewalks. If you live in a sub-association in Highlands Ranch and pay extra monthly fees, you should check if the sub-association is in charge of shoveling sidewalks and for overall snow removal in your area. Please be aware that there is a Douglas County Ordinance which requires homeowners to shovel their sidewalks within 24 hours of the end of the snow storm.
Snow removal from sidewalks on major public streets (example: Broadway, Highlands Ranch Parkway, etc.) is a responsibility of the Highlands Ranch Metro District. The Metro District is also in charge of plowing the trail system in Highlands Ranch.
