Highlands Ranch Farmer's Market 2006
On June 18, 2006 the Highlands Ranch Farmer's market finally opened for the 2006 summer season. We could not make it on the 18th and so we visited the Highlands Ranch Farmers Market a week later. We arrived at about 10.30 AM on a beautiful Sunday morning. The Farmer's Market had changed location from the years before and can now found at the new Highlands Ranch Town Center.
The parking lot was quite busy for a Sunday morning at the town center. The Farmer's Market apparently attracted quite a few people to come out and visit. We got the baby stroller out of the car and started our walk along the different vendors. Overall the farmer's market makes a much better impression in the location in the middle of the town center. Last year's Farmer's Market was squeezed onto the Eastridge Recreation Center parking lot.
The shopping options available offer a nice variety. Hopefully all vendors will make it every Sunday so that we do not see the farmer's market become downgraded to just a few vendors like it happened often in the last few years. We bought some Rye bread from a bakery and some German-style pasta. Do not expect to get products for cheap. Prices are quite high. I think some vendors would be better off with lower prices in the first place. $6.50 for a small bag of pasta is quite steep. But hey - sometimes you gotta spend some money for some specialty food. If those prices create a lot of return business every Sunday - I doubt it. In regards to the bread - it was gone by Sunday night. It was that good.
Don't get me wrong - I have been a return customer to the Farmer's Market in general every year for the last few years. The HRCA did a good job this and I just hope it will pay off better compared to the years before. The variety of products available is good and the vendors are very friendly. Unfortunately our favorite vendor did not make it onto this year's list - the "Taste of Denmark" bakery was one of the biggest attractions of the last few years and is greatly missed.
Anyway - on the first impression we give the Highlands Ranch Farmers Market 2006 two thumbs up and we hope that it will continue to grow and offer high quality as the season progresses.
And of course we brought our camera - here are some pictures.
