Rain, Rain – Go away ...
No, at the time of this writing it is not raining in Highlands Ranch. I am sitting in Seattle, Washington and it rains cats and dogs. It is actually raining non-stop since last night and yesterday it was raining most time of the day – with just a few interruptions. I don’t mind rain occasionally, but this constant rain – I cannot understand how people can live here. I am so used to the sunshine in Colorado that I am really home sick for Highlands Ranch even after just 2 days. The occasional business trips I am doing remind me how good we have it in Highlands Ranch.
Here are a few things I noticed about people in Seattle. Even in rain they go out running. Well, we see people doing that when it snows in Highlands Ranch, but I have never seen so many people like here that go outdoors doing their exercise even during rain. Crazy in my opinion, but I guess kind of normal for a city where rain is always around. Driving – people drive differently here. I am being cutoff much less compared to Highlands Ranch (or Denver so to speak). Drivers also use their turn lights much more than Coloradans do. The speed limits are a little lower compared to Colorado and I assume this might have to do with the wet driving conditions that just happen to be around a little more. Lots of Asian-style restaurants – much more than what I have seen in the Denver Metro Area. Some look really cheap, but I hope to find a decent one to try first before I fly back home to Highlands Ranch. Even though this seems to be the rain capital of the US, it is still difficult to buy an umbrella. You would think even Starbucks would offer umbrellas instead of Music CDs, but even it rains a lot – many people walk around without umbrella. I tried it and after 30 minutes going through the rain trying to protect myself under trees and building entries, etc. I gave up and spend $10 on a small umbrella sold at Rite-Aide. Not sure what to do with it when I get back to Highlands Ranch.
Anyway – just wanted to say “Hi” from Seattle. Looking forward to be back in Highlands Ranch later this week.
