New Park in Highlands Ranch coming
It seems like Highlands Ranch will soon be getting new park. The Highlands Ranch Herald reports that the Fly’n B Ranch could soon be turned into a park for the entire community. Stakeholders are close to make a decision on the master plan. Fly’n B is in the North-West corner of Highlands Ranch – just south of County Line Road between Lucent Blvd. and Santa Fe Drive (Highway 85). The park – also known as the Bowen Farm was recently sold to Erickson Retirement Communities – the owner of Windcrest.
Erickson Retirement Communities set aside some parts of the Bowen Farm for the Highlands Ranch Metro Districts. This most likely happened due to requirements by Douglas County that X amount of open spaces and green spaces need to be included in certain type of developments. For residents of Highlands Ranch this could turn into a great opportunity to get another great outdoor attraction as the farm also comes with an old farm house and a fishing pond.
Plans for the new park will be presented to the public on September 10, 2007 at 6 PM. The location of the meeting will be the Metro Districts Office on 62 W. Plaza Drive here in Highlands Ranch.
