New Opt-In Trash Project for Highlands Ranch
How much are you paying for garbage removal? My last invoice was around $244 (for 1 year) or so for weekly garbage removal and recycling. That is a lot of money if you ask me. The same thought must have been in the heads of some HRCA folks, because they went out and negotiated a deal for Highlands Ranch residents. One thing first: this is optional and you are not forced into using a certain trash provider.
So, starting with April HRCA negotiated a deal with Pro Disposal for garbage pickup and recycling (bi-weekly). The goal was to reduce the monthly fees for residents, but there are quite a few more benefits:
The list of benefits (source:HRCA):
• Lower monthly fees
• Reduce truck traffic to one day per week making our streets safer
• More accountability for the quality of services
• Reduce emissions, and wear and tear on streets
• Provide recycling throughout our community
• No additional fuel surcharges or environmental fees
At the same time HRCA re-organized Highlands Ranch into 5 service zones. This will limit garbage pickup to one day per week per service zone. As a result you will not see garbage bins and garbage trucks on more than one day a week in your neighborhood.
The new program will start April 5th. To setup service with Pro Disposal you can contact them at 303-791-3827. You would also need to contact your old service provider to cancel the service. At this point I am not sure how existing Pro Disposal customers will have to react in regards to getting the lower price once the program starts in April. Please call Pro Disposal with questions.
You can find a Q & A section at the HRCA website.
