My Favorite Muffin

Highlands Ranch is a cool place to live in. We discovered another reason why it is a great place to live today. My son was having a rough few days due to having a cold, runny nose, and lack of sleep accordingly. We wanted to treat him to something special to cheer him up and to have a good time. We ended up at a fairly new joint – the “My Favorite Muffin” bakery in Highlands Ranch.

Besides going to the “Egg & I” restaurant 2 or 3 times a year we barely go out for breakfast. So, the visit to this muffin place was actually great. My Favorite Muffin has opened in the King Soopers center at Wildcat Reserve Parkway and Highlands Ranch Parkway. They’re on the south west corner of the King Sooper’s strip mall, located in the former “Hollywood Video” premises just across from Abo’s Pizza.

We ordered a few mini muffins for my sun while my wife and I got a bran muffin (my wife’s choice) and a Lemon Pound Cake Muffin (my choice). We also got coffee and a soft drink. The prices were very reasonable and the service was great. We found a nice table and enjoyed our food. And “enjoyed” is the correct word to use. My Lemon Pound Cake was still warm and tasted extremely good. I was very tempted to get a second one, but my weight/food discipline hold me back. Being almost 42 means to be careful as too much yummy food tends to stick to my waist really quick.

The Bran muffin with Cranberries and Blueberries tasted very good, but was too much for my wife and so we had something to take home. My son enjoyed the mini muffins. He is not a good eater – even with sweet breakfast foods and seeing him eat almost all his food speaks a clear language – he really liked it.

Afterwards I briefly talked to Denis and Lois Shelley (the owners) and complimented them on the restaurant and the food. The seemed all present making sure that every customer is having a great experience. We also got a chance to try the brand new cupcakes that the “My Favorite Muffin” Bakery had to offer and again – no disappointment.
