How long does it take to remove a broken light pole, Metro District?
How long does it take to make our roads and sidewalks more safe? For Metro District of Highlands Ranch this answer seems to be a matter of weeks. I think it is now pretty much about 3 weeks that a light pole was taken down by an accident. Since then safety cones are in place to “protect” and to “warn” people about it. Safety cones are good, but as a frequent user of sidewalks the way how this situation is handled, it is a safety hazard.
As an example I was outside with my little son (almost 4 years old) riding his bike. He was riding the bike on the sidewalk until we hit the “safety zone” around this light pole. We had to enter the street which was kind of scary because nobody slowed down. People passed us with high speeds and it is even scary for an adult when just being 1 foot away from large pickup trucks going approx. 50 Miles per hour. I know my little son was scared and I was glad when we were back on the sidewalk. I have seen other people going through the same situations.
Hello Metro District of Highlands Ranch. Can’t you just remove the broken light pole and make the sidewalk accessible again?! How long do you expect Moms with strollers to enter the street to pass this safety hazard? How long do little boys have to get off their bikes and enter the street to bypass this safety hazard? I assume you a new light pole on backorder, but come on – this is not necessary. Thank you for listening.
PS: I assume this safety hazard is in the responsibility of the Metro District. If it is Douglas County instead, please let me know.
