Happy Birthday, America. The 4^th of July is upon us this week. As in the past years the HRCA has organized a whole basket of activities. The list of events looks very promising and we like to share the top items with you. So, here is the event calendar for 4^th of July in Highlands Ranch:

Independence Day 5K – 8.30 AM

Get active and join the 5K run this morning. Registration Fee on the event day is $35 and pre-registration the days before can save you $10. The 5K run starts at the Dorchester Street Highlands Ranch (In front of Lansdowne Arms / Highlands Ranch Town Center) at 8.30 AM.

Registration: 7:30 a.m.
Race Start Time: 8:30 a.m.
Beginning and End: Highlands Ranch Pkway
Cost: $35 ($25 if you had preregistered)
Awards: 9:30 a.m. at the Town Center stage

4th of July Parade – 9:00 a.m.

Colorado Rockies’ Manager Clint Hurdle kicks off the parade joined by Ed Green (CBS 4 TV Station). The parade will start at the Shea Homes parking lot and go east on Highlands Ranch Parkway. It will then go right on Broadway, right on Burgundy to Green Ash and around Civic Green Park and back on Ridgeline toward Highlands Ranch Parkway and back to the Shea Homes parking lot.

July 4th Celebration – approx. 9.30 AM until evening

Visit the Highlands Ranch Town Center after the parade or after the 5K run. Some of the attractions are Balloon Twisters, Face Painters, Vern’s Mini Train, Hayrack Rides, Games & Inflatables, and a lot of Live Music! Food stands and restaurants will be waiting for you in the town center area. And of course a nice cool brew is available as well to anyone who can show proper ID.

Other events are a Bike and Pet parade for children age 2 to 6. Start time is 9 AM (not sure why this has to happen at the same time as the main parade??). I think this can be improved next year.

Fireworks Display – Approximate Time: 9:15 pm

Launch Site: Directly north of Town Center at Highlands Ranch Parkway & Blake. Civic Green Park and Town Center are great locations to view the display!
