I have seen the place pretty much every day when driving home from my office – Five Guys Burgers and Fries. It’s located at the corner of University and Colorady here in Highlands Ranch. Then about 3 or 4 months ago I read an article about this restaurant chain in Inc Magazine (article 1 and article 2). The magazine article talked about the business concept and how much emphasis these Burger Guys put on the quality of their products. So, I always wanted to go there and try one of their cheeseburgers, but for whatever reason it did not work out … until 2 days ago.
With the family out of town I decided to treat myself to a good burger and headed out to the Five Guys and Fries location here in Highlands Ranch.When I got there around 6 PM the restaurant was pretty full with people. The interior is fairly basic and not very fancy at all … which is very nice. I ordered a Cheeseburger with Fries, grabbed a few free peanuts and had a seat. Within 5 minutes my order was ready and I picked it up at the counter and then sat down again. Wendy’s advertises their Burgers as “Old fashioned” – well, forget Wendy’s or McDonalds or Burger King – their burgers are crap compared to what you get at Five Guys and Fries.
A thick and juicy, well cooked Cheeseburger that tasted extremely good. Yummy. This is finger food at its best. The burger tasted very good bite after bite and the portion size was perfect for me. Didyou know that their hamburger and hot dog buns are made only at a very few bakeries across the country? You can taste right there how important the quality is for this restaurant. I then enjoyed some of their fries. These fries do not come out of the freezer and you can taste the difference. These fries are soaked in water first and are then prefried which will seal the potato. Then these fries get their second round and are fried again – now with the seal they do not absorb any oil and therefore they are not greasy. The fries were served in a paper cup which was … well, different. However, each order that includes fries seems to get an extra scoopof fries into the bag. There were so many fries – I could have fed several people of these fries. Awesome.
My little boy likes Cheeseburgers and I think it will not take long after he and Mom return home that we will go and visit the Five Guys again. For me this is one of the best Burger places in Highlands Ranch. Once you had a Hamburger or Cheeseburger here, you never want to go back to McDonalds or Wendys ever. Prices at Five Guys Burgers and Fries are very reasonable in my opinion. I paid $7 and change for a Cheeseburger and Fries and I think I had a great value in return. Definitely worth checking out.
