First Bank in Highlands Ranch Robbed

Big city crime has hit home. Apparently the First Bank on 9376 S. University Blvd. has been robbed. According to news sources, Douglas County officers are looking for an unidentified man who robbed the First Bank yesterday.  As a precaution the Valor Christian School and Cherry Hills Community Church were locked down temporarily. At around 2:15 p.m. a 6-foot tall, thin black man walked into the bank wearing a gray shirt and dark-tinted glasses. While making his threat, he did not display a weapon, said Douglas County Deputy Cocha Heyden.

The unidentified robber left on foot with an undisclosed amount of money. Deputies did set up a perimeter and searched the area, but at least so far we are not aware of an arrest in this case.

Incidents like this remind us that certain types of crimes are happening more often during the Christmas season. This is also a good reminder to always lock your house when leaving and not to display valuable items inside your car when leaving the vehicle (even when being away just for a short time). Let’s be alert and watch out for each other in our neighborhoods to keep Highlands Ranch safe.

Please contact local law enforcement if you have any information related to this crime in Highlands Ranch.
