Highlands Ranch is a very diverse community. We do not have any hard numbers, but daily walks through different neighborhoods show how diverse Highlands Ranch is. People of all colors and different origin are the ingredients for a great community with a lot of culture. My neighbors are from Canada as an example. My wife and I are originally from Germany. My neighbor next door – his mother is from Germany. People down the road are from Pakistan and others are from India. It is very diverse.
By accident we have met quite a few people from Germany. It happens in the Supermarket or at work or at the Recreation Centers. Often those moments go by very quick and it can be difficult to make friends or have a longer conversation. We all have busy lifes, right?! If you are from Germany and live in Highlands Ranch and are looking for other people from Germany, feel free to contact us. It might not always work out, but usually we are very open and like to make new friends. As an example we are trying to raise our son bi-lingual and German speaking friends in his age (almost 2.5 at the time of this writing) would be a great way to achieve this goal.
But it is not just about making friends. If you are looking for German foods or products in Highlands Ranch, it is not that easy. You get some German Chocolate at King Soopers (at least the one at Highlands Ranch Parkway and Wildcat Reserve). SafeWay at the corner of Broadway and H.R. Parkway has some German foods in a small specialty food section as well. Beyond that it gets a little more difficult. Not too far outside of Highlands Ranch you can get German Food Products at Karl’s Delicatessen (Go I-25 north to Arapahoe – Go West on Arapahoe – Go South on Yosemite Street and you will find Karl’s just half a mile south on Yosemite St. in a small strip mall).
