Chipotle Burritos Highlands Ranch – Pathetic …

I don’t think it is the recession we are in, because when I visit other Chipotle locations the burritos are better. But let’s start from the beginning. We used to be frequent visitors at the Chipotle Burritos at Highlands Ranch Pkwy/Wildcat Reserve Pkwy (King Soopers strip mall). It’s close to our home and the food is pretty good – and especially not as bad as junk food from McDonalds or so. But lately we found a lot of disappointment when getting dinner from Chipotle Burritos.

I am a beef person and I always order a steak burrito. Well, my last burrito had a total of 6 pieces of steak in it. No, this is not an accident because the last few burritos I had before that one did not come with much more steak either. My wife always orders a Chicken Burrito and same thing here – her last Burrito had a whooping 7 pieces of Chicken. In neither case the pieces were large. They cut the Chicken and the Steak fairly small. The other thing we noticed is that even the rice is getting less and all is easily hidden in the tortilla that makes the burrito.

Comparison #1: So, the last few times we had cravings for Mexican, we went to Qdoba’s in the Highlands Ranch Town Center. These guys are not so shy with the steak or the chicken. My wife also always orders Guacamole and it seems like you easily get more at Qdobas. Overall you get decent amount of steak or chicken with your burritos or nachos.

Comparison #2: Sometimes I have to work late in the office and so we order Burritos from Chipotle over the Internet. We then pick them up at the Chipotle Burrito place in Lone Tree (Lincoln / I-25 area). Their burritos are actually quite better than what the location in Highlands Ranch has to offer. A decent amount of steak and chicken seems to be the norm.

So, for us it is now Qdoba’s Mexican Food in Highlands Ranch (it also seems to be more crowded over there – coincidence?). Chipotle – No, thank you.
