Business Review: Bernie’s Hot Dogs in Highlands Ranch
Update per 03-17-2010: Please read my updated review here, too.
Do you like greasy Food? Then eat here …
Do you like to eat greasy food? Then you have a “new” restaurant to visit right here in Highlands Ranch. This one of a kind (in Highlands Ranch that is) restaurant is definitely not something you should consider if you like to eat healthy. What is this place I am talking about? The restaurant or fast food joint is called “Bernie’s Hot Dogs” and it is located on the West side of the Highlands Ranch Town center – highly visible from Highlands Ranch Parkway.
We went to Bernie’s the first time today and personally I probably won’t come again in a while. I at the brink of turning 42 this year and my metabolism just can’t handle a 1500 calorie dinner anymore. Don’t get me wrong, I do like hot dogs and the hot dogs at Bernie’s tasted pretty good. So, let’s get down to it. What kind of food do you get at Bernie’s Hot Dogs in Highlands Ranch? You can get hot dogs, fries, and salad + your favorite soda. The menu has a long list of items you can put on your hot dog and customize it to your needs. That is pretty unique in Highlands Ranch. So, from that perspective Bernie’s Hot Dogs is definitely worth a visit.
If you are more health conscious like I am you better stay away from Bernie’s. The fries are addictively good tasting and the foot long hot dog was tasty, too. However, the amount of grease and fat involved was just way above my level of tolerance. I can only assume, but I think the meal I had was not less than 1500 calories (don’t worry, I did not finish it as it was too much food for me). Still, I am at the edge of having high cholesterol and this kind of experience does certainly not help.
So, the conclusion? If you crave for a good hot dog, please visit Bernie’s Hot Dogs in Highlands Ranch. The prices are moderate and the staff was very friendly when we there. If you need to be careful with your diet, don’t go there. Or plan on going for a run the same night and do not go shorter than 5 miles to work off the calories you ate. ![]()
PS: It would be nice if Bernie’s would provide Wet-Naps for their customers. You really need it after having eaten there.
