We all might have seen it or heard about it from others. It happens all the time. We hear a loud bang and what has happened was a bird that flew against a window and knocked himself out temporarily. Houses or buildings with large windows are a “preferred” target by birds that either do not realize that there is glass or they see “another” bird flying and are trying to fly “there”, too. It’s a so-called window strike. This is supposed to happen a few million times per year in the US.
Well, this one is a little different. I was sitting in my home office working the day away when I heard a loud bang against a window. I got up and walked around, but could not determine which window got hit and I could not see the poor birdie who did it either. I figured the bird was Ok and got away. 2 hours later I was upstairs to grab something and walked back down the stairs when I looked at the big window that is above my front door in the entrance hallway. I found the window that the bird had hit. The window was fine, but … well …. the bird had left something behind. Please take a look at the 2 pictures below and click on each one to see the full-sized image (the full-size pictures were taken with a 12 Megapixel camera – please have a moment patience loading).
If you take a real close look at the second picture you can even see the birds face on the window + the wings and you see exactly how he smashed into the window. Poor Birdie. However, still funny in a certain way when seeing the imprint.
