Bernie’s Hot Dogs – (Almost) revisited
About a year ago my family and I did visit Bernie’s Hot Dogs in Highlands Ranch and I wrote a critical review about my experience. Since then I have not been back to Bernie’s for several reasons. However, a couple days ago Joe, the owner of this restaurant, contacted me to let me know that there are a few changes to the menu that might be worth checking out. Joe sent me an email and I am quoting him here accordingly:
It is a “healthy” refresh from the original and has been modified based on customer feedback, market trends and a year of history. We are keeping with the favorites such as the Vienna Beef Dog (a different dog from your review visit), Footlong Dog, Gourmet Local Sausages, Beer Battered Fries, Onion Rings and Signature Salad. The new additions include an All Natural Dog, Veggie Dog, Hot Italian Beef Sandwich and Three Meal Deals. As another added value, we have made all of the toppings included in the price of the dog with the exception of chili, bacon and guacamole.
I think these are good changes going into the right direction. I am getting more conscious about eating a little healthier than in younger years and one of my “complaints” about my visit to Bernie’s was the limited availability of some less greasy or less fat containing foods. And I know many of our readers also pay close attention to what they eat, so it is good to hear about these changes going on at Bernie’s Hot Dogs. I have yet to try any of the new options, but it sounds like it might definitely be worth a try. I might even opt for the new Vienna Beef Dog before going too healthy. Heck, we only live once, right!?
