Air Conditioning for your House in Highlands Ranch
I am currently in the market for air conditioning for my house here in Highlands Ranch. I had 3 companies giving me estimates and I am shocked about pricing. Ok, my last AC purchase for my last house was 10 years ago, but almost double the price since then is crazy. If I compare this to cars – those prices have certainly not doubled since then. TV prices have not been doubled since then. Water heater prices have not doubled since then. So, why is getting a new AC unit installed so darn expensive these days?
Are prices jacked up due to the government tax credits and rebates? I have seen this before where dealers just added a possible rebate or tax credit onto an items price and then tried to lure customers into purchasing the item with the promise to get them the tax credit. The customer in the end paid list price of the item and the tax credit only made up for what the dealers had used to jack up prices. Of course that never happens and is just a rumor …. 
Anyway, like I said it is crazy how expensive this is nowadays. The cheapest 4 ton unit I was offered is around $4,700 and that is a bare down minimum unit (13 SEER). Have you bought an AC unit for your house in the last 12 months? What is your experience? How was pricing? Which company did you go with?
